Peter Okwoche is a presenter and producer on Focus on Africa on BBC World News TV. He joined the BBC World Service in 2004. During his time at the BBC he has covered many important events across Africa, such as various elections, as well as interviewing several African presidents (past and present) including Olusegun Obasanjo, Mohammadu Buhari, John Dramani Mahama, Yoweri Museveni, Lazarus Chakera and Mogkweetsi Masisi amongst others. He has also interviewed renowned figures like Kofi Annan, Wole Soyinka, Pravin Jamnadas Gordhan, and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Peter also doubles up as the sports reporter on Focus on Africa and has covered five Africa Cup of Nations as well as the 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil and two Olympic games. Peter began his career at a small local radio station in Nigeria in 1992 and has also worked for several years in print media. He has won many awards in Nigeria, including Nigerian international journalist of the year in 2013. He speaks five Nigerian languages as well as some French.
