Fawzia Ali is the Tribe Lead for the Mobile Data Tribe. This is a new role. Prior to this, Fawzia was the Head of Consumer Digital Products and Services at Safaricom where she has worked for 14 years. She is passionate about learning new things and in being able to convert a customer passion point into a commercial opportunity that is sustainable. She has transitioned from finance to sales, marketing and now product development. In this role, she was responsible for establishing a sustainable content business for Safaricom supported by digital channels (app and web). This was an exciting role that required us to first establish the key consumer passion points and areas of focus; we started with 5 (gaming, video, news, music, education). Building sustainable business models and consumer propositions was a key enabler to drive content uptake as well as customer engagement. Partnerships was a critical factor of success and this continues to be an area of focus as we engage and connect with more partners (content providers, platform providers, skill set support, etc.) Fawzia is passionate about using her skills to serve community. In this regard she is a board member of Moving the Goal Posts (Kilifi),a board member of Marketing Society of Kenya, a trustee of the Safaricom Foundation and a member of Rotary Club of Lavington Jioni. Prior to joining Safaricom, Fawzia worked with Unilever and Standard Chartered Bank. She has a degree in Food Science and Technology, an MBA in Finance and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. She is a mum and when she is not working you will find her reading a book, enjoying a long walk, farming, relaxing with friends and family and is currently learning how to play golf.
